Andover Warriors Girls Lacrosse

Mission

To promote girl’s lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes fun while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship and a lasting love for the sport.

 

Programs

REGISTRATION OPENS IN MID-NOVEMBER

 

Lacrosse Fun and Games- All 1st Graders

Run by Andover Girls Youth Lacrosse Coaches and girls in the Lax Leadership Program.  Players will be introduced to lacrosse in a fun, age appropriate manner. Traditional games with a lacrosse twist will be played each week along with friendly 3v3 competitions. T-Shirts included with registration fee.

 

Dates: April 29th, May 6th, May13th, May 20th, June 3rd, June 10th

 

In Town Junior Warriors- All 2nd and 3rd graders and optional for NEW 4th graders that do not want to play on a 4th grade travel team.

            Players will be taught the fundamentals, skills and basic rules based on the Andover Warriors Girls Lacrosse curriculum.   All players will be assigned a team and a coach. Teams will have 2 1 Hr. practices per week and a game on Sunday afternoon against another Andover In Town Junior Warriors team. Uniform included with registration fee.

 

Details:

2 Weeknight practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays 5pm-6pm

Games: Sundays on the field behind the Cormier Youth Center between 2pm-4pm

           Game Dates: April 29th, May 6th, May13th, May 20th, June 3rd, June 10th

 

Traveling Warriors- 4th-8th graders

                                           4th Grade-U11

                                           5th and 6th graders-U13

                                           7th and 8th graders-U15

 

At the U11, U13 and U15 level, players are split into teams of equal ability and compete in the Mass Bay Girls Lacrosse League. The number of teams at each level depends on registration numbers. We have typically had 2 teams at U11, 3 teams at U13 and three teams at U15 in order to accomodate all those who want to play. Teams will  practice twice a week. This season all teams in indiviual age groups will have a combined station based practice.  Meaning, U11 teams will alll practice together, U13 teams will all practice together and U15 teams will all practice together. Games are played both home and away on Sunday afternoons.

Players will gain a more in depth knowledge of the game and build upon fundamental skills. To ensure that teams are equal in ability no preference will be given to carpool situations or requests for friends to be on the same team. Uniform included with registration fee.

Additional Opportunities

 

Skills:

            Throughout the spring season optional skill session will be offered to players at all levels to further their fundamental stick skills, defensive skills and speed and agility. The sessions will be run by Kerry Morrison, Andover Warriors Girls Lacrosse coordinator and Dawon Dicks, Andover Youth Services trainer. Skill sessions are included in your registration fee.

 

Lax Leadership Program Offered to all players in 7th and 8th grade the Lax Leadership Program will help develop leadership skills, promote self-confidence and teach girls to help others on and off the field. Players will assist Kerry Morrison on Sunday Mornings with the Lacrosse Fun and Games Program. Prior to that program participants will have at least two training sessions and throughout the season additional training sessions will be held. The cost of this program is included in the registration fee.
